Vocabulary grows one syllable at a time.

Funny thing, language. We put together vowels and consonants like Lego bricks. But there's more to language than 'construction.' Letters and sounds trigger the brain to make connections between the word itself and what it means. Scientifically speaking, words build 'language networks' along neural pathways.

If you've ever spoken to a Montessori child and marveled at his or her vocabulary, it's because of the word-building method employed in a Montessori program. No memorizing! Building polysyllabic words like 'windmill' and 'sunset' becomes easy.
