Learning from the Hundred Board
A young mind is able to grasp math concepts during what is called the 'sensitive period' of development.
One of the tools we use is the Hundred Board. Number recognition and concepts such as addition and subtraction become easy as the child learns at his or her own pace.
Notice, there is no teacher standing by. Once the lesson has been presented, the child finds out how to'do the math' so to speak.
